Future engineers in the making!

WSU Bremerton had a great time hosting students during Olympic College’s What’s Next event for local high schoolers. Students toured our facilities, met with instructors, and learned more about the opportunities available in our Electrical and Mechanical Engineering programs right here in Bremerton.

It was a great chance for students to see what studying engineering looks like up close - labs, equipment, and the people who make the program run. Judging by the questions and conversations, there were definitely a few future Cougs in the crowd.

A special thank you to our Tour Master, Philip Dodge, for leading the tours and sharing meaningful insights about the program, the labs, and what students can expect as engineering majors. His knowledge and enthusiasm helped make the experience both informative and memorable.

All in all, a great day introducing the next generation to the world of engineering.

Yesterday, our students from Olympic College and WSU Bremerton got a behind-the-scenes look at how our community’s infrastructure actually works with a tour of the Central Kitsap Treatment Plant.
They learned how wastewater is treated, how engineers and technicians keep systems running safely and efficiently, and why this work matters for public health and environmental protection. It’s one thing to study these systems in class, it’s another to see them in action.
Huge thanks to the staff for taking the time to walk our students through the process and answer great questions. Real-world learning never goes out of style.
