University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the health profession which concerns itself with the relationship between structure and function of the human body, as that relationship may affect the restoration and preservation of health. The nation’s first university-based college of chiropractic, the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic (UBCC) was established in 1990 following licensure by the State of Connecticut

of the University’s Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) The University of Bridgeport was chosen as the site for the college because of its long history of support for chiropractic education. It was one of the first educational institutions to create a pre-chiropractic undergraduate program and its master’s degree program in nutrition had long attracted a large number of practicing chiropractors. UBCC prepares students to become primary health care providers. Each student is educated to diagnose, to care for the human body, to understand and relate fundamental scientific information, and to consult with, or refer to other health care providers. degree program received its initial accreditation in 1994. The program was reaffirmed in 1997 and 2002, and is currently accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) through 2018. The College of Chiropractic is also a member of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges.
