Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medical care is one of the most respected healing professions around the globe. It serves a quarter of the world’s population and has increased in public acceptance in the United States and Europe as the fastest growing complementary health care field. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has gained this respect by being both the most ancient written form of medical therapy known and a form of medicine with excellent clinical results.

September is Pain Awareness Month
Millions of people live with chronic pain, affecting their quality of life, work, sleep, and emotional well-being. Acupuncture offers a safe, evidence-informed, non-pharmacological approach that may help reduce pain, improve function, and support overall wellness.
Research has shown acupuncture can be beneficial for a variety of pain conditions, including:
• Low back pain
• Neck pain
• Osteoarthritis-related pain
• Headaches and migraines
• Musculoskeletal injuries
Pain is complex and individual. Acupuncture works by stimulating the body's natural healing mechanisms and promoting balance throughout the musculo-skeletal, hormonal and nervous systems.
At the University of Bridgeport Acupuncture Institute, students and faculty are dedicated to advancing excellence in acupuncture and East Asian medicine through education, clinical training, and patient care. Through the University of Bridgeport Clinics, community members have access to affordable acupuncture services provided by supervised student interns and experienced practitioners in a supportive learning environment.
During this Pain Awareness Month, we encourage those living with chronic pain to learn more about integrative approaches that can complement their healthcare plan and improve quality of life. Together, we can increase awareness, expand access to care, and support healthier communities.
