University of Bridgeport and CYBER.ORG are partnering to create new early college pathways into cybersecurity careers.

This new initiative will give participating high school students opportunities to earn UB college credit, build cybersecurity skills, work toward industry-recognized credentials, and explore career pathways before they graduate from high school.

As UB President Danielle Wilken, Ed.D., said, “Early college should be about more than collecting credits. It should help students begin to see where those credits can take them.”

By combining CYBER.ORG’s K-12 and workforce expertise with UB’s academic programs and oversight, the partnership will help connect classroom learning with higher education and the growing cybersecurity workforce.

For National Women’s Small Business Month, we’re continuing to highlight women entrepreneurs from UB RISE whose work is making an impact in their communities. 🌱💜

Meet Vetiveah Immanuel, founder of Radiance Gardens and a proud member of the UB community. Vetiveah earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition from University of Bridgeport in 2019 and is now pursuing her Master of Public Health.

She founded Radiance Gardens to help people grow their own food, prepare healthy meals, and feel empowered to take an active role in their well-being. Centered around food sovereignty and food justice, the nonprofit offers gardening kits, fresh produce, a CSA program, and women’s health workshops exploring topics including nutrition, digestion, energy, and hormones.

As Vetiveah shares, growing your own food can nurture more than your body, it can support your mind, your community, and the health of the soil itself.

We’re proud to see members of the UB community take what they’re passionate about and use it to create meaningful change. 💜

UB Health Sciences students recently took their learning beyond the classroom to explore velocity, momentum, inertia, speed, and acceleration through hands-on activities.

By throwing a tennis ball in different ways, students were able to see concepts like linear, angular, and general motion play out in the real world, connecting the science behind movement to the work they may one day do with athletes.

This National Women’s Small Business Month, we’re celebrating women entrepreneurs making an impact in our community. 💜

Meet Sandy Maignan, founder of Kale Krazy, a business specializing in juices, smoothies, and meal prep. Over the past five years, Sandy has continued to grow her business through farmers markets, mentoring programs, community events, and opportunities to connect with new audiences, including UB RISE.

Sandy’s story reflects the entrepreneurial spirit we’re proud to support at University of Bridgeport. Today, UB’s Innovation Center provides opportunities for entrepreneurs through initiatives including the High Tech Incubator, while the Student Entrepreneur Center gives UB students access to mentorship, professional expertise, community connections, workspaces, and resources to help transform ideas into businesses.

It’s PA Week! 💜🩺 Did you know University of Bridgeport’s Physician Assistant Institute (PAI) has earned the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s Partial Academic Pathway designation?

The distinction gives PA students an opportunity to begin their journey toward lifestyle medicine certification while still in training, adding another dimension to how they learn to approach patient-centered care.

Through an evidence-based focus on areas including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, restorative sleep, and sustainable behavior change, lifestyle medicine helps future healthcare professionals consider the whole person when supporting their patients.

As we celebrate PA Week, we’re highlighting some of the ways UB is preparing the next generation of PAs to meet the evolving needs of their patients and the healthcare field.

Cortney Davis, DMSc, PA-C, recently helped the UB Physician Assistant Institute earn designation as an ACLM Partial Academic Pathway Program. Learn more.
