We had an inspiring session this week during the M&T Bank Professional Development Talk Series featuring Dr. Dwayne Smith, Executive Director of Systemwide Advancement for Connecticut State Colleges & Universities.
Dr. Smith delivered a powerful message centered on possibility, purpose, and perseverance. Some of his standout takeaways included:

• “If you have a will and a desire, you can accomplish anything.”
• “You have everything you need to be successful already in you—you just need to activate it.”
• “You may fail, but you’re not going to fall.”

Special thanks to M&T Bank for their partnership and continued support in developing the next generation of business leaders. Lunch was provided, and the room was filled with energy, engagement, and meaningful conversation.

On November 18, Asst. Professor Christopher A. Szpryngel, PhD, from the Ernest C. Trefz School of Business, welcomed Dr. Tom Pellegrino, President of Holy Cross High School (Waterbury), to the University of Bridgeport campus!

Dr. Pellegrino toured UB’s Interdisciplinary Emerging Technology (IET) Lab—one of our newest innovation hubs within the Colleges of Engineering, Business, and Education. This cutting-edge space fuels hands-on learning and collaboration in AI, robotics, nanofabrication, 3D printing, smart manufacturing, IoT, cybersecurity, and more.

Thank you to our PhD students, Lab Asst. Engineer Drew Iorio and Labs Engineer Mohammed Aljamal, for showcasing the equipment and technologies powering student and industry innovation!

And a special thank you to Dean Khaled Elleithy, Vice President Jay Moran, and President Danielle Wilken for sharing their vision and highlighting UB’s impact on our students and the greater community.

🎉 Stock Market Challenge Award Ceremony! 📈💜

Today we celebrated the award ceremony for our semester-long Stock Market Challenge!

This year’s participants were talented 11th and 12th graders from Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Multi-Magnet High School, who spent the semester learning, competing, and putting their financial skills to the test. We were thrilled to welcome them to campus today to recognize their hard work and achievements! 👏📊

A huge thank-you to Mr. Gordon Stier ’77, UB alum and Vice President of the UB Alumni Association, for sponsoring this event and supporting educational opportunities for future leaders. 🙌💼
