in Technology Management (M.S.-TM) degree is designed to meet the growing industry and academic needs for interdisciplinary skills and education. M.S.-TM prepares students for succeeding in careers as technical professionals; for fulfilling positions managing technical aspects and leading technical initiatives in business, engineering, and technology. Technology management designs, maps, analyzes,

and improves technology driven business and engineering systems, applications, and processes employing a systems management approach. Students are accepted into the M.S.-TM program with undergraduate degrees in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline. Other degree backgrounds (e.g. business, commerce, management, architecture, etc.) are considered on a case by case basis. A growing population of engineering and science graduates would like to differentiate themselves by pursuing graduate management degrees such as an M.S. in Technology Management or MBA or equivalent. in Technology is innovative since it focuses on three major competencies: (1) Management, leadership, people and team building skills, (2) Business, industry, process, functional and analysis skills and (3) technical and engineering skills. Graduates with traditional undergraduate business, commerce or equivalent backgrounds would increase their technical, quantitative and analytical skills via an M.S.-TM degree. in Technology Management degree requires a minimum of 34 credits, which are comprised of seven (7) core courses. These include courses such as total quality management, technical writing and communications, project management, business/technology capstone and others. Each student must also select an elective concentration that consists of three (3) courses from seven (7) popular and industry in-demand choices, which include: biotechnology management; information technology, Big DATA; global program and project management; supply chain, logistics and service management; manufacturing management; quality management and continuous process improvement; and new product development and commercialization. A new concentration in Technology Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation will be available in 2015. Other exciting concentrations are also available through other UB departments and schools. The UB Schools of Business, Engineering and Design work closely and synergistically together for the benefit of the students. Therefore, students are able to take advantage of the interdisciplinary education so highly demanded by industry. in Technology Management was established in 1970 (then known as the M.S. in Management Engineering). The on-line M.S.-TM license was granted in 2004. In addition to the University of Bridgeport and School of Engineering accreditations, the M.S.-TM. degree is accredited by the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT). The M.S.-TM is an engineering degree that differentiates our students by providing technical depth with managerial and leadership skills. Our programs bridge and integrate the tenants of technology and management. This makes our students more desirable job candidates to employers and provides our students with interdisciplinary career choices in technology, management or both. A new Ph.D. degree in Technology Management (Ph.D.-TM) has been launched effective with the fall 2014 semester. The Ph.D. in Technology Management is designed to meet growing industry and academic needs by offering a quality doctoral program to both part-time and full-time students in two inter-related areas: 1) new technology venture creation (e.g. entrepreneurship and corporate venturing), and 2) select current and emerging technologies. The total number of credits required is 45 credits beyond a Master’s degree, of which three core courses focus on quantitative, mathematical and research methodologies. The Ph.D.-TM combines state-of-the-art entrepreneurship and new venture creation tools and techniques with technology and engineering disciplines as demanded by today’s market. The University of Bridgeport is 1 of 6 higher education institutions in the nation that currently offers a Ph.D. degree in Technology Management. in Technology Management (TM) degree is the highest title conferred in the TM discipline. Doctorate degrees qualify you to become a prestigious member of the academic community as well as providing you with the opportunity to pursue part/full time academic positions. A growing population of engineering and science graduates would like to differentiate themselves by pursuing graduate management degrees such as an M.S. in Technology Management or MBA or equivalent.
