Funding available to offset transportation costs to BSU so schools can participate in our STEM Experiences! 🚌

The New England Association of Chemistry Teachers and NESACS (Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society) are excited to announce the formation of two new projects. 'Connect with a Chemist' and 'Future Chemists on the Go' aim to bridge the divide between high school chemistry students and industry/academia, giving students two pathways to see how chemistry can be pursued as their career.

'Connect with a Chemist' brings chemists from industry or academia into high school chemistry classrooms, sharing their journey and expertise while engaging with students and teachers in hands-on activities. Teachers and chemists alike are encouraged to collaborate beforehand on what activity will work best for the chemist's background and the teacher's demographic.

'Future Chemists on the Go' offers up to $1,500 in bus funding to STEM institutions/universities. More and more, rising bus costs are the barrier to teachers getting out of the classroom and showcasing the world of chemistry around them. This program strives to eliminate that hurdle, enabling high school students and future chemists to experience firsthand what their career may hold.

We have an expanding database of chemists and organizations that have signed up to be a part of these programs. Please scan the QR code in the attached image to sign up as a chemist/institution of interest or express interest as a high school teacher.

BSU CASE is thankful we were able to attend the 2026 Mass Energy Conference for Educators and we can't wait to incorporate what we learned into our STEM outreach programming. ⚡️☀️💥

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the sudden passing of Maura Whittemore on July 1. Maura was far more than our longtime administrative assistant, she was a a dear friend to all of us here at CASE.

For over two decades at Bridgewater State University, Maura brought warmth, dedication, and care to everything she did. She truly loved working with students, supporting CASE staff, and serving our center. Her kindness, steady presence, and pride in her work made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working with her, and she will be missed beyond measure.

While we mourn the loss of an extraordinary colleague and friend, we also celebrate the lasting impact she made on our students, our programs, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Maura's legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication will remain an enduring part of CASE. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Thank you to Officer Briggs and Officer Locke from the Bridgewater State University Police Department for joining our Forensics Institute of Bridgewater students to demonstrate how investigators lift fingerprints from crime scenes. As an added bonus, students had the opportunity to meet K9 Arby and learn about the many different roles police K9s are trained to perform. Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with our future forensic scientists!
