🌎Earth Day in Action🌱

We’re still feeling inspired from a recent Earth Day celebration! From hands-on science explorations to nature inspired creations, it was incredible to see our community come together to learn, discover and celebrate our planet.

🌱Families created native seed shakers to grow their own plants
🔬Young scientist explored aquatic life under microscopes
🦋Visitors discovered how living things grow and change
🦇🐦‍⬛ And so much more!

Today, members of the CASE team conducted a survey of glass eel (elver) populations in the Weweantic River in Wareham, MA. This time of year, these tiny travelers make an incredible journey from the Sargasso Sea to local coastal rivers.

The American eel remains a fascinating mystery to biologists, especially due to its unique catadromous life cycle—spawning in the ocean before migrating into freshwater habitats to grow.

🕵️‍♀️🐾 Junior Scientists in Action! 🐾🕵️‍♂️

Our junior scientists in the 'Forensics Institute of Bridgewater' program had an exciting surprise this week when Officer Locke stopped by! Officer Locke, along with Officer Johnson and K9 Arby, visited to share what real-world crime scene investigation looks like — including a hands-on demonstration of how investigators dust for fingerprints.

Officer Locke also talked about the important role K9 units play within the Bridgewater State University Police Department, and introduced everyone to the newest (and very popular!) member of the K9 unit, Arby!

A huge thank you from CASE to Officer Locke for taking the time to inspire and engage our junior scientists. What an unforgettable experience!
