Spring Semester Spotlight: King Toxicology students earn national recognition through research excellence

King University students made a significant impact at the Society of Toxicology (SOT) Annual Meeting in San Diego, earning competitive awards, presenting research, and gaining recognition among thousands of researchers from across the nation.

Congratulations to:

• Maggie Worley ’28 and Clay Sherfey ’28 for receiving Undergraduate Development Program Travel Awards and Appalachian College Association Ledford Scholarships to support their summer research.

• Cassie Lane ’26 (King Toxicology Lab) for earning 3rd place in the SOT Southeastern Region undergraduate poster presentations.

• Chloe Clayton ’26 for presenting research completed through the competitive University of Illinois SURETox REU Program.

• Alex Svetlik ’21 for earning “Paper of the Year” recognition for the Occupational & Public Health Specialty Section during the SOT Conference

These achievements demonstrate the strength of King’s undergraduate research experiences and the impact of dedicated faculty mentorship. Through opportunities like these, students develop the skills, confidence, and experience needed to contribute to their fields.
