Oysters from RWU’s Ferrycliffe Shellfish Farm are the key ingredient in a new local collaboration. Our Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED) has partnered with Trágmar Ale Works to create Ferrycliffe Oyster Stout, a limited-edition brew that brings RWU’s work in aquaculture into the community.

Why oysters? During brewing, they can help particles settle and soften bitterness for a clearer, smoother finish. And the connection goes beyond the recipe: a portion of all b**r sales will support CEED’s research and student training at RWU.

Join us for the release celebration to try the stout, learn about CEED’s work and enjoy fresh Ferrycliffe oysters, clam chowder and stuffies!

Saturday, October 24 | 1–4 p.m.

From the waterfront to the lab! 🌊

Roger Williams University welcomed U.S. Congressman Gabe Amo to campus for a firsthand look at the research, innovation, and community partnerships helping advance Rhode Island's blue economy.

During his visit, Congressman Amo toured RWU's Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED), exploring the university's work in aquaculture, marine biotechnology, and sustainable practices that support our coastal communities.

Through hands-on research and collaboration with industry and community partners, RWU students and faculty are helping shape the future of marine science in Rhode Island and beyond.

It started with borrowed equipment, a residence hall basement and students with an idea. Fifty years later, that idea is still bringing the RWU community together.

On Oct. 2, students celebrated WQRI 88.3 FM’s 50th anniversary with music, vinyl painting, trivia and Del’s Lemonade on D’Angelo Common. The College Radio Day gathering honored a tradition that began with WROG in 1976 and continues with each new generation of Hawks.

Were you part of WROG or WQRI, or a regular listener? Share your favorite station memory in the comments!

Explore five decades of student radio and meet the alumni who helped shape it:

What began with a student-written charter, borrowed equipment, and a closed-circuit signal running through campus phone lines has grown into WQRI 88.3 FM, a station shaped, rebuilt, and carried forward by generations of Hawks at Roger Williams University.
