Brockport Foundation Scholarships are now accepting applications for the 2018-19 academic year. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 15, 2018.

The Brockport Foundation offers approximately 350 scholarships. To apply students should go to https://brockport.academicworks.com and complete the required information. In addition to providing basic details, students are asked for a resume and a reference. They also will need to write a 100-250-word paragraph on three out of five prompts. Entering freshman should use the email they used with their admissions application. Current students should use their Brockport email.

Once students complete the basic information, they will be matched automatically with about 40 percent of the Foundation’s scholarships. The remaining scholarships have additional requirements, such as an additional reference or essay.

Because scholarships managed by the Brockport Foundation are created by donors, each has slightly different criteria. For a list of scholarships and their requirements, or to apply, please visit https://brockport.academicworkks.com. For more detailed information, visit the Brockport Foundation Scholarships website at www.brockportscholarships.org or read the blog at www.brckportscholarships.com.

Now that it’s August the Brockport Foundation is preparing for the new academic year and the new scholarship season that will begin November 15.

We also want to let you know about another option for scholarships.

Many companies, businesses and organizations not affiliated with Brockport offer scholarships. These awards are based on a variety of factors, including grades, student essays, or area of study. Because these awards are established by different organizations, they have different criteria.

For example, a law firm might offer a scholarship to the student who writes the best essay on the dangers of texting and driving. A manufacturer of outdoor equipment might offer a scholarship to the student majoring in environmental science with the best grade point average. Or, a hair-care products company might offer a scholarship to the student who produces the most creative video on hair styles.

There are several websites that list independent scholarships:
Scholarships.com
College Board.org
Fastweb.com
Studentaid.ed.gov/type/grants-scholarships/finding-
scholarships
US News & World Report Student Scholarships

Other scholarship possibilities are available by exploring search engine listings

Brockport Foundation Scholarships accept applications between November 15 and February 15 with the awards made for the next academic year. Outside scholarships have their own deadlines and payment schedules.

Review committees working with the Brockport Foundation Scholarship Office have completed selecting recipients for the 2017-2018 academic year.

This year’s reviewing committees had to make very hard choices as there were so many qualified candidates. Applicants who have not received a scholarship offer should understand that other students were selected.

Scholarship applications for the 2018-19 academic year will open November 15, 2017, and will run until February 15, 2018. Even if you were not awarded a scholarship this year, please try again next year.

Please watch for posters, and other signage on campus, follow us on Facebook at Brockport Foundation Scholarship Office, and watch for ads in The Stylus for more information about how to apply, qualifications, and any changes to the application process. You can also read updates to our blog at www.brockportscholarships.com after Oct. 25.

Thank you for your interest in Brockport Foundation Scholarships. Please accept our best wishes for success in your year ahead.
