Recently, eight of our program's cadets took their oath and were commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the US Army! We are incredibly proud of them all as they continue their journey with the Army and assume their leadership positions as officers. Congratulations to our newest Brockport graduates and 2LTs: 2LT Ahn, 2LT Briggs, 2LT Dunham, 2LT Hughes, 2LT Koss, 2LT Nowatchik, 2LT Shaw, and 2LT Stockschlaeder.

Here is a quick throwback of what our MS4, Cadet Koss, thought of his April staff ride to Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY.

A staff ride is an opportunity for ROTC cadets to have an immersive experience of important turning points in military history.

To close out the semester, we hosted our annual Dining Out in Batavia, NY. Cadets, loved ones, and family members came together, dressed up, and celebrated the end of another successful year. The evening featured words of wisdom from our Professor of Military Science, LTC Sim, who reflected on our growth, accomplishments, and the continued professionalism of our cadets.

As part of tradition, we also held our light‑hearted “grog” ceremony—an opportunity to highlight memorable moments, lessons learned, and the camaraderie built throughout the year. Our outgoing MSIVs were honored with symbolic ingredients representing the branches they will soon join, marking the beginning of their next chapter as Army officers.

Grog Ingredients:
Nursing:
• CDT Hughes – Skim milk
• CDT Stockschaleder – Starbucks caramel Frappuccino

Logistics:
• CDT Koss – Water
• CDT Ahn – Pineapple juice
• CDT Flinchbaugh – Blue raspberry drink Celsius
• CDT Nowatchik – Hawaiian shaved ice Alani
• CDT Briggs – Salt water

Signal:
• CDT Shaw – Hot sauce

Infantry:
• CDT Dunham – “Dirt” brownie mix

With the semester coming to a close, we wrapped up our final PT of the 2025–2026 school year with a game of Ultimate Frisbee and a lot of laughs. Moments like these remind us how much we’ve grown together.

This PT also marks a new chapter for every class:
MSIVs stepping forward as newly commissioned leaders,
MSIIIs stepping into greater responsibility as they guide and mentor the younger cadets toward their future camp experience,
MSIIs setting the example of what cadets should strive for in character, discipline, and leadership,
and MSIs building on last year’s Army Values by developing the confidence and presence expected of future leaders.

Even as we merge with RIT, we will always carry the pride of being Brockport ROTC Cadets. That identity doesn’t fade.

Fight to Win!

Alongside our Change of Command ceremony, we also held our traditional awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding hard work and dedication of our cadets. This event gives us the opportunity to highlight individual achievements, leadership growth, academic excellence, and the commitment our cadets show both in and out of training.

From personal awards to leadership acknowledgments, each recognition reflects the effort our cadets put into strengthening themselves, their peers, and our program as a whole. We’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished and excited to see how they continue to grow as future Army leaders.

Recently, we held our Change of Command ceremony, recognizing the hard work of our outgoing cadet leadership and welcoming the new leaders who will guide our program forward. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment continue to strengthen our team.

This ceremony also marked an important milestone for us—we are now officially an extension program of RIT and are formally recognized as a company rather than a battalion. This transition reflects our continued growth and alignment with our host institution.

Thank you to all cadets, cadre, and supporters who joined us in celebrating this moment of leadership and progress.

Fight to Win!

Finally, but certainly not least, the last cadet we are highlighting is Cadet Halloran! Here at Brockport, he is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Legal Studies. Throughout his ROTC career, he participated in Color Guard and served as Co–Color Guard Captain during his MSIII year. During his MSIV year, he served as our Fall Semester S4.

Some fun facts: A quote that resonates with him is, “Stop sign? What stop sign.” It’s something he says often to remind himself to keep pushing forward when things get tough. He enjoys reading, running, hanging out with friends, and being outdoors. He is from Northville, NY, and in 2012 he won a youth frying pan toss competition.
