SUNY Brockport was proud to host the New York State Special Olympics Genesee Region – MCPSAC School-Based Track & Field event at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium yesterday. Hundreds of incredible student-athletes from across our region came together to compete, cheer each other on, and showcase the true spirit of courage, joy, and inclusion.

From sprints and relays to throws and jumps, every race and every finish line reflected the power of community and the legacy of Special Olympics on our campus. Brockport’s partnership with Special Olympics goes back decades, including hosting the 1979 International Summer Special Olympics that brought thousands of athletes from more than 30 countries to our community.

Thank you to the athletes, coaches, volunteers, staff, and families who made this unforgettable day possible. 💚💛

ABCA ALL-REGION STANDOUTS 🏆⚾️🦅

The American Baseball Coaches Association named Michael Norton and Matthew C**n to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams 🥹

Norton secured first-team honors in a standout graduate season, pacing Brockport with 16 multi-hit performances and recorded multiple RBIs in 12 contests. His impact extended across every facet of the offense, finishing the year with 40 RBIs, 44 runs scored, and an excellent .340/.430/.628 slash line 🤯

C**n earned third-team honors as the leader of the Brockport lineup, leading qualified Golden Eagles in nearly every offensive category while launching a conference best 12 home runs. The graduate student was just as strong on defense, committing just one error in 308 total chances 🤩

Gabe Giannini put on a show at NCAA DIII Championships, scoring 6,797 points for 6th place in the men’s decathlon!

Day 1: 2nd in 100m (11.03), 2nd in LJ (7.14m), PB 12.36m in shot, PB 49.79 in 400m

Day 2: 1st in pole vault (4.65m) + season-best 5:05.60 in the 1500m to close it out

First Team All-American honors + a new school record to end the year 💪

Giannini Earns 1st-Team All-American with 6th Place Finish in the Decathlon

La Crosse, WI - Gabriel Giannini delivered on the biggest stage, placing sixth overall in the men's decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. His total of 6,797 points set both a school record and personal best, earning him 1st-Team All-American honors.
