Congratulations to students Trinity Thiele, Jayden Asbie, Naya Brown, Ryan Fantigrossi, Tyler Jones, David Lonski, and Caleb Mesiti for winning best poster prize for their poster “EduAlly: Integrated AI Education Assistant” at Brockport Scholar's Day, April 9, 2025. 155 posters were presented at this event. These students are part of Associate Professor Dr Ning Yu's ACM SIGAI group in the department. Well done!

Congratulations to our student Caleb Mesiti, who won FIRST PRIZE in the CCSCNE 2025 Undergraduate Research and Student Poster Contest held at SUNY Brockport on April 4, 2025. Caleb won first prize for his poster entitled "Retinal OCT Image Classification Leveraging AI with Pytorch", advised by Associate Professor Dr. Ning Yu.

Thank you, Matthew Panebianco (2015 CIS and Marketing), for coming to speak with our Software Engineering students today about life as a Full Stack Engineer. Matt started his professional career as a Marketing Web Developer at Paychex and currently works for Wegmans IT. He spoke with our students about how to prepare for a career as a software engineer while still in school, focusing on tools and technologies to learn, and the importance of personal projects that help make up a portfolio to show potential employers. We are delighted, Matt, that you stayed back to speak with our students one-on-one and gave them some good advice!

Brian Humphrey (2013 Computer Science graduate), currently a Software Engineering Manager at Paychex, came to our Software Engineering class today to discuss the modern Software Development Lifecycle and how students can prepare to be a part of dev teams while still in school. Great discussion about projects to work on, how to build a connected and cohesive team, what tools to learn, how to present your work when interviewed, and so on. Thanks a lot for taking time to help out the current generation of students, Brian!
