Hello, My name is Dr. Nereida Quiles-Wasserman and I was the Director of Admission for Adult Education's Accelerated Degree Programs at Concordia College-NY, Bronxville, New York from June 2008 to June 2018. Whether you were considering completing your degree for personal, professional, or financial reasons – I congratulate you for taking the first step. I provided expertise and individual focus w

hile working with you toward one goal, assisting you in obtaining your bachelor’s degree. As a former “non-traditional student”, I understood the exciting process of choosing a college that fit the needs of an adult learner. I also understood the increased need to obtain a college degree in today’s business environment as well as the satisfaction of fulfilling a major life goal. At Concordia College-NY, we had several key benefits that may have influenced your decision to complete your degree. We are proud to say that Concordia's Accelerated Degree Program provided the opportunity to a personal life while pursuing your degree. The design of the Accelerated Degree Program had distinctive and important factors:

* It was developed specifically for adults 22 years+, with the average age in the range of 35 – 40, and we have students of all ages in the program.

* Classes met one night per week, from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

* Courses were four, five, or six weeks in length.

* Independent course work.

* One course at a time, and completion of 12 or more credits in one term, therefore eligible to apply for the maximum financial aid benefits (student loans and possible grants).

* Books were loaned to students – not purchased.

* Class sizes ranged were from 10 to 20 students.

* Affordable tuition.

* Assistance in processing request for financial aid including employer tuition reimbursement.

* Transfer Credit Policy: College-level courses with a grade of C or higher were reviewed for possible acceptance in transfer from regionally accredited colleges and universities. A maximum of 75-semester credits - which included CLEP, military credits, and life experience - were considered for transfer. You applied with or without previous college credits, and if you had an associate degree, an official high school transcript was not required. GED was also accepted. An official college transcript was also required for prior college credits. Everyone qualified for financial aid in the form of low-interest loans, regardless of income level, unless they had a loan in default. Government grants, Federal and State, were available to qualified applicants. Remember that your education is an investment in you and your future. We also reviewed all of the above information when we met. Degree Completion was a dream that became a reality in Concordia’s Accelerated Degree Programs!! I look forward to speaking with you very soon and hearing about your journey! Remember, we all have the same 24 hours....
Yours truly, Dr. Nereida Quiles-Wasserman
