Yesterday, more than 90 faculty and staff came together for the AI & Assessment Café, sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs at Medgar Evers College.

The engaging session featured Armando Vizcaino-Santiago of Microsoft and Chelien Brown of CUNY Online, who led timely conversations exploring the evolving role of artificial intelligence in assessment and how emerging technologies are transforming teaching and learning.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shared ideas, and contributed to this important conversation as we continue exploring innovative approaches to student success.

An evening of leadership, legacy, and excellence in Washington, D.C. ✨

Medgar Evers College President Dr. Patricia Ramsey joined Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and representative of New York’s 9th Congressional District in Brooklyn, at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 55th Annual Legislative Conference Phoenix Awards Dinner.

The Phoenix Awards Dinner is the culminating signature event of the Annual Legislative Conference, bringing together leaders from government, education, business, philanthropy, advocacy, and culture. This year’s celebration also marked the 50th presentation of the Phoenix Awards. Acclaimed actress Viola Davis was among the evening’s distinguished honorees, receiving the CBC Chair’s Award.

President Ramsey also connected with Brooklyn congressional leaders during an evening celebrating public service, achievement, and the continued advancement of Black communities.

From Brooklyn to Washington, D.C. — our students are showing up, learning, engaging, and preparing to lead! 🖤💛

Medgar Evers College/CUNY students joined President Dr. Patricia Ramsey in Washington, D.C., for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 55th Annual Legislative Conference (ALC55), held under the theme “Rooted, Ready & Rising.” The conference brings together students, policymakers, advocates, professionals, and leaders for public-policy dialogue and leadership development.

Our students participated in two important issue forums/brain trusts:

🎓 “What’s the Price of Belonging? The Role of PBIs and Mental Health” — hosted by Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

👩🏾‍💼 The Women in Government Lecture Series — founded by Dr. Zulema Blair of Medgar Evers College, creating opportunities for students to engage with women in public service and learn from their leadership journeys.

Experiences like these extend education beyond the classroom, giving our students opportunities to engage in conversations about public policy, leadership, mental health, and the issues affecting the communities they serve.

Our students aren’t just preparing for the future, they’re getting a front-row seat to the conversations shaping it.

🇺🇸 WE REMEMBER • SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

Today, Medgar Evers College joins our nation in solemn remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the victims, the courageous first responders, the families whose lives were forever changed, and all those who demonstrated extraordinary bravery, compassion, and service in the days, months, and years that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember their lives, honor their legacy, and reflect on the strength and resilience that carried our city and our nation through one of our darkest days.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
