This summer, a record 223 Bowdoin students will be paid to pursue their ideal internship anywhere in the world. This is a new record for the Office of Career Exploration and Development's funded internship program. Last year, when it also broke records, CXD gave out 188 grants. Eight years ago, the number of grantees was 80, according to CXD Executive Director Kristin Brennan.

The increase in grants is due to a growing number of donors, Brennan said. “This is a great story of donor generosity,” she continued, noting that one of Bowdoin's commitments—and a focus of the recent From Here campaign—is providing opportunities and resources to help students secure meaningful first jobs and build fulfilling careers.

It is the goal of many college seniors to have a job lined up after graduation. Tyler Huck took that to heart.

Tyler Huck ’26 walked across the stage at Commencement in his cap and gown to receive his diploma and hours later was in his Portland Hearts of Pine kit starting in a USL League One match against the Greenville Triumph SC.

The Division III Academic All-American, who signed with Hearts of Pine earlier this year, capped his whirlwind day by earning Man of the Match honors in a hard-fought 1–1 draw, having put on quite a show for family and friends on a day he will certainly never forget. Tyler Huck '26 appeared on WCSH's 207. There was success on the water recently for Bowdoin’s rowers, as the women’s team secured both gold and bronze medals at the ACRA National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Head coach Doug Welling said he and assistant coach Jenny Sherman were “blown away” by the ability of the students to balance the pressure of final exams with travel and racing at the highest level. “The top-three finish in the women's overall points, as well as the overall team's seventh place finish, speaks volumes to the time these athletes commit to preparation.”

The event on May 15–17 saw the Bowdoin College novice women’s eight being crowned national champion, bringing home Bowdoin’s first-ever gold medal at ACRA in a novice event.
