Dr. Uddin, Research Associate Professor of Medical Physiology, attended at the 33rd European Society of Hypertension (ESH) 2024 Annual Meeting on Hypertension and Cardiovascular Renal Protection, which was held in Berlin at the Estrel Congress Centre (ECC), on May 31-June 3, 2024. Dr. Uddin presented his research work “Relaxin like peptide B7-33 and its derivatives demonstrate efficacy in rodent models of preeclampsia”.
The conclusion of the study is that both B7-33 and B7-33 fusion proteins, which include B7-33 as a component, demonstrate efficacy in attenuating the symptoms of PE in rat models. The results show that treatment with B7-33 and B7-33 fusion proteins effectively lower mean arterial pressure (MAP), reduce levels of inflammatory markers such as TNF-α and sFlt-1, and normalize blood pressure and proteinuria in the rat models. These findings suggest that B7-33 is a promising candidate for further development as a novel therapeutic option for PE (Journal of Hypertension Vol 42, e-Supplement 1, May 2024; e310).
Dr. Uddin also met with his long-time collaborators from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin to discuss further collaboration opportunities on the experimental and clinical research.
