One year ago, visionary women united with a shared purpose to establish a lasting legacy of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and finer womanhood in Western Charles County, Maryland.

From our humble beginnings to the meaningful impact we continue to make, this first year has been a testament to the power of unity, dedication, and a collective commitment to uplifting our community.

As we celebrate this milestone, we honor our charter members, reflect on our accomplishments, and look forward to the many opportunities ahead to serve, inspire, and make a difference.

This week, we’re making space for real conversations around accountability, safety, respect, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

Today, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated honors the legacy and uplifts the men of Iota Phi Theta, as they celebrate their 63rd Anniversary.

Since its founding in 1963, the brown and gold have stood as a beacon of fortitude, purposefully built to advocate for the rights of our people and champion social and economic justice for the overlooked and underserved.

Born out of a pivotal moment in history, Iota became a movement. At Morgan State University, twelve visionary founders: Albert Hicks, Lonnie Spruill, Jr., Charles Briscoe, Frank Coakley, John Slade, Barron Willis, Webster Lewis, Charles Brown, Louis Hudnell, Charles Gregory, Elias Dorsey, Jr., and Michael Williams - united around a shared commitment to maturity, community, and civic engagement. Refusing to be mere spectators, they became architects of change.

We will never forget.

Each year, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated solemnly pauses to honor the lives lost, the courage of first responders who gave everything, and the resilience of survivors who continue to bear the weight of that day. We remember not only the tragedy, but the unity, strength, and humanity that emerged in its wake.
Our hearts remain with the families, friends, and communities forever changed by the events of September 11th. Their pain is enduring, and so is our commitment to remembrance.
