Bryn Mawr College Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program

Bryn Mawr College Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program Post-bac, pre-med, present day. Our program is both rigorous and rewarding.

Established in 1972, the Bryn Mawr Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program is one of the oldest, most respected, and most successful in the nation. It is designed for women and men who are highly motivated to pursue a career in medicine but have not taken the required premedical courses as undergraduates. Over a 12-month period of intensive, full-time study in the classroom, our students are thorough

ly prepared for the challenges of medical school. After completing our program, virtually all students who apply—over 98 percent—are accepted to medical school.

In celebration of Earth Day, the Sustainability Committee hosted a college-wide event bringing the community together for a picnic, conversation, and reflection. Attendees enjoyed food while engaging in discussions on sustainability, including the environmental impact of laboratory waste and ways to reduce it. Events like these highlight the importance of collective action in building a more sustainable future.

Our volunteer highlight this week:
Eva currently volunteers at the Mammography Department at Fox Chase Cancer Center, one of the nation's first cancer hospitals. A few words from Eva:

"My role is almost entirely patient-facing, where I greet patients as they arrive and assist them in remaining calm and comfortable during minimally invasive breast biopsies. I am fortunate to have been offered this opportunity to observe these procedures while the physician guides me through the process. I learned about volunteer opportunities at Fox Chase from a medical physics resident—my former undergraduate research mentor—who is now completing his residency there.
When I had originally decided to pursue a career in medicine, I sought out a flexible volunteer opportunity that would help me develop critical response skills in high-pressure situations. For the past year, I have been a bilingual counselor with Crisis Text Line, a 24/7 support service for individuals experiencing crises such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and trauma. In both English and Spanish, I support texters by forming positive communications with them, assessing their safety, and assisting them in developing coping plans."
