NCAA DIII members of USA South In 2014 the Knights joined the New Jersey Athletic Conference for football.

Founded in 1867 and renewed in 1996, Southern Virginia University is the only four-year, private liberal arts college that embraces the values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Since 1996, Southern Virginia University has established a tradition of athletic excellence claiming nearly 40 small college national championships in a variety of men's and women's sports, while more than

500 Knights have earned All-American or national academic honors. After receiving regional accreditation and NCAA Division III provisional membership during the summer of 2012, Southern Virginia made history by joining the Capital Athletic Conference on July 1, 2013. After four successful provisional years, the Knights became full NCAA Division III members on Sept. 1, 2016.
