New research from ! Symptoms of hyperarousal were linked to a greater number of alcohol-related problems and supports the idea that soldiers may drink to reduce the physiological sensation of being "on edge." Learn more at the linked article.

A new longitudinal analysis suggests that specific PTSD symptoms, particularly hyperarousal, drive hazardous drinking in military reservists. The findings indicate that male soldiers are uniquely at risk for alcohol problems stemming from physiological agitation.
