Dean Suzanne Rosenblith just shared these important words with us at commencement today.

"As you begin or continue your careers as educators, counselors, information scientists, psychologists, librarians, policymakers, faculty, administrators, and researchers, hold tight to the resilience you’ve cultivated. Fight against the structures that prevent racial and social equity, speak truth to power and fight alongside those who have been ignored, disregarded or mistreated."

Celebrating the Teacher Residency program with Resident Jetaun Harris. Jetaun is a Buffalo native who earned a BA in sociology from Buffalo State. As a human service professional, she facilitated care for individuals, families, and communities while overcoming concerns to improve their quality of life. She now wants to focus on culturally sustaining pedagogy and culturally responsive teaching strategies as she continues to learn in the program. Jetaun wants to pay it forward as a teacher by making a meaningful impact on the next generation. She also loves spending time with family, listening to music, and traveling to beaches. 📚📖🏖️📝

Celebrating the Teacher Residency program with Resident Martin Safford-Cameron. He received a bachelor's degree in political science and international relations from Williams College. Martin has worn many hats in his half-century on earth, from a classically trained violinist, student of world history, science and human interactions, deckhand, restaurant owner/chef, soccer coach and substitute teacher. Substituting at the elementary level cemented his plans to become an educator for his remaining career. He is excited to start this journey as a part of UBTR and begin this fulfilling chapter in his life. He loves playing and coaching soccer, skiing, sculpting and woodworking. 📚📖📝

Celebrating the Teacher Residency program with Resident GianCarlo Pryce. He is from Brooklyn, N.Y., and completed his bachelor's in history at UB. History is vital to understanding and analyzing modern culture, so he thinks it will be fulfilling to help put things into context for his students. GianCarlo chose to teach in because it is an area he’s grown to be familiar with and calls a second home. He loves to watch Marvel movies and watch/play basketball. Also, he has been a freelance portrait photographer since 2017. 📚📖📝

What’s sup y’all! I’m Enrique, a rising first-year student in the higher education and student affairs program in GSE!

A little intro for y’all before y’all see a day in my life here at UB: I’m from Valley Stream, N.Y. I’m half El Salvadorian and half Peruvian. I graduated this past May from Louisiana State University with a bachelor's in general business.

Last thing I want y’all to know is that I have an assistantship in Campus Living here at UB as a living and learning communities graduate assistant. Follow GSE’s Instagram story (IG handle: UBGSE) today to get insight into a day of my life here at UB!
