DPT student Patrick Hajos took his clinical education experience on the road with an out-of-state placement in Massachusetts. Here’s what Patrick had to say about his experience:

I’m happy to share I have completed my second clinical rotation at Professional PT in Dennis, MA. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work primarily with an older adult population presenting with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, movement dysfunctions, and comorbidities. Working with such a diverse patient population challenged me to continually adapt my clinical reasoning, communication, exercise selection, and treatment approaches to meet each patient’s individual needs.
One of the highlights of this experience was being introduced to the clinic’s use of Medical Exercise Therapy (MET) and blood flow restriction (BFR) therapy. Seeing how structured, individualized exercise could be used to address a wide range of impairments and functional limitations added another valuable perspective to my developing approach to rehabilitation.
I am also incredibly grateful to my clinical instructor, Dr. Kristina Economou, DPT, for providing me with hands-on experience utilizing more advanced orthopedic manual therapy techniques. Having the opportunity to learn, practice, and apply these techniques with patients helped me become more confident in my clinical skills and further appreciate the role that manual therapy can play when integrated with therapeutic exercise and functional rehabilitation.
One of the most memorable parts of this rotation was the team itself. The physical therapists at this clinic have built such a close, supportive, and well-bonded group. Their willingness to collaborate, teach, challenge one another, and genuinely support each other created an environment that made me feel fortunate to be part of their team, even if only for a short period of time.

Once again, Dr Ron White has provided exceptional mentorship to one of our students. Hear from Henry Smith below:

I am proud to share that I have completed my 8 week outpatient orthopedic clinical rotation at Trinity Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.

Over the past eight weeks, I had the opportunity to work with a diverse orthopedic patient population. This experience strengthened my patient communication skills, improved my examination/evaluation processes, enhanced my treatment plans/exercise prescriptions, and increased my confidence with hands on techniques, including joint mobilizations and manipulations. Working with a wide variety of patients and diagnoses gave me valuable experiences, refining my approach to meet each individual's needs.

I would like to thank my Clinical Instructor and former professor, Dr. Ronald P. White, for his mentorship, patience, and commitment to helping me grow throughout this rotation. I also want to thank the entire team at Trinity Physical Therapy for their support and for making this a valuable learning experience.

We offer clinicals in so many places! See below about Dias Daniyar’s latest accomplishment:

I am excited to say that I completed my second clinical rotation at an MVHS Inpatient Rehab Unit in New Hartford, NY.

I spent 8 weeks treating, evaluating and planning D/C of patients with wide array of neurological and orthopedic conditions. In addition, I also had an opportunity to collaborate with other members of the healthcare team such as OTs, nurses, physicians, speech therapists, D/C planners, and more. Moreover, I was fortunate to spend 2 days at a hospital and observe 3 orthopedic surgeries and shadow/assist hospital PTs and OTs in their treatments.

This rotation was tough in both complexity of cases, as well as the amount of caseload itself. It forced me to rise up to the challenge and made me gain immense confidence and trust in my skills and competence as a clinician going forward. That said, like all rotations, it also exposed some areas that I need to work on, which I will focus on leading up to my next placement.

I want to express my immense gratitude and appreciation to my CI Dr. Kathryn Merrell and all the IRU team members for all the help, guidance and support they provided throughout these 8 weeks. It has been a very rewarding experience and I am glad that I spent it with such great professionals, but more importantly, people.

Below is Brooke Foschini-Carpenter’s experience with Buffalo Rehab Group in their neuro specialty. We are so grateful to continue this relationship!

I am excited to share that I have completed my second clinical rotation as a DPT student at Buffalo Rehab Group, specializing in Neurological rehabilitation.

Over the past 8 weeks, I had the opportunity to work with the amazing team at the Kennedy Institute for Mobility, Innovation & Technology (IMIT) and UBNS Orchard Park clinics. Throughout this rotation, I had the opportunity to evaluate and treat individuals with a wide range of neurological conditions, including stroke, SCIs, Parkinson’s disease, MS, TBIs, PSP, Post-polio syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and other mobility impairments.

This rotation challenged me in so many ways while allowing me to grow my clinical skills, confidence, and clinical reasoning within the neurological population. It also strengthened my passion for neurologic rehabilitation and reinforced how rewarding it is to help individuals work toward improving their mobility, independence, and quality of life. Throughout this clinical, I also gained hands on experience with the specialized equipment at the IMIT, including the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill, Lokomat, Vector Body Weight Support System, and Upright VR. Additionally, I was introduced to BFR training and had the opportunity to present an in-service on the use of BFR in the neurological population.

A huge thank you to my CI, Nick Herideen PT, DPT for his positive encouragement, patience, kindness, guidance, and clinical expertise throughout this rotation. Thank you for being such a great mentor and for helping me grow as a student and future clinician! I would also like to thank Lily Casarsa PT, DPT who stepped in as my CI for 2 weeks, for her incredible mentorship, guidance, and support.

Lastly, thank you to the entire BRG team for being so welcoming, supportive, and friendly throughout my rotation. It was truly a pleasure working with you all! I am incredibly grateful for everything I learned during these 8 weeks and cannot wait to carry these skills and experiences forward into my next clinical rotation and future career as a physical therapist!
