Social Work Department, Buffalo State University, SUNY The social work program at SUNY Buffalo State was first accredited by the Council on Social Work Education in 1975. Students who graduate with a B.S.

Buffalo State's Social Work Department has the largest undergraduate social work program in the State University of New York. Social work majors focus on professional preparation, drawing from a required academic background in the liberal arts. Courses cover values and ethics, diversity, social and economic justice, and populations at risk. in Social Work assist the elderly, children, families, an

d people faced with disabilities, mental illnesses, and many different problems in living. Graduates also learn various ways to contribute to the development of social welfare policy. Our recent graduates are represented in a wide variety of practice fields at agencies such as Horizon Health Services, Case Western Reserve University, Community Action Organization, Georgia Department of Family and Children Services, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, Transitional Services, AIDS Community Services, Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled, to name a few. The social welfare minor enables students who are majoring in other disciplines to understand the welfare system and the people it affects.

💙 Registration is now open for Camp Erin 2026! 💙

No child should have to navigate grief alone. Camp Erin is for bereaved children and teens ages 5–18 to connect, heal, and find support alongside others who understand.

Through grief-related activities, games, discussion, and moments of reflection, Camp Erin provides a safe and compassionate space for kids to express their feelings and build connections. 💙

We are grateful to the Eluna Network for creating and supporting Camp Erin programs nationwide and for helping bring this important resource to grieving children and families in WNY at no cost. 💙

Our student Britney, supported by another student Jennifer, hosted a walk on campus to raise awareness about Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women during the Spring semester. The event was well attended and many participants noted they didn’t realize there was such a disparity in violence against women statistics for Indigenous women.
