UB Law School is HOSTING the annual Wechsler Moot Court Competition. We REALLY need your help! We need time clerks. You will get to observe the best arguments made by law students from various law schools (check out your future opponents/learn different advocacy styles). You will also receive a delicious lunch while you mingle.

Named after the drafter of the Model Penal Code, the annual Wechsler Competition is the only national moot court competition in the United States to focus on topics in substantive criminal law. The problems address the constitutionality and interpretation of federal and state criminal statutes as well as general issues in the doctrine of federal and state criminal law.

We need time clerks for each round (we will be grateful for any round you can do):
9:00 A.M. -10:30 A.M.
10:45 A.M. - 2:15 P.M.
1:30 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.
3:15 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.

Date: Saturday, March 24, 2018.
Location: Erie County Courthouse, Buffalo, NY

Please e-mail [email protected] to sign up for the round you can serve as a timekeeper.

Hi everyone!

We hope the end of your semester is wrapping up nicely! We would like to let you know about some updates for the Albert R. Mugel National Tax Moot Court Competition and give you a bit more information about it. Hosted by the Law School for more than thirty years, the Mugel Competition is the oldest national tax moot court competition in the United States. Each year, the Mugel Competition gives law students from across the nation an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in oral advocacy and brief writing on a cutting edge issue of federal tax law and policy.

If you're interested in trying out it's simple! Just submit a writing sample and a letter of interest by December 21 to [email protected].

Once accepted, here are the commitment dates:

(1) The national problem will be released on January 12, 2016;
(2) The national brief will be due on February 12, 2016; and
(3) The competition, once again, is February 18-20, 2016.

We are looking forward to hosting this national competition and hope that you will join us! Past judging panels have included Federal Magistrate judges, Federal Tax Court judges, state court judges, prominent attorneys, and distinguished law professors from around the country.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email and visit our website: http://www.law.buffalo.edu/beyond/competitions/mugel.html.
