About the Endowment:
The Phillip J. Morrow Scholarship for Choral Excellence honors the lifelong dedication of Dr. Phillip J. Morrow to choral music, conducting, and the pursuit of musical excellence. For 28 years, Dr. Morrow has shaped generations of singers and conductors as Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Campbell University. Under his leadership, Campbell’s choral ensembles have performed across the United States and internationally, with tours to South Korea, England and Wales, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland—sharing the power of choral music with audiences around the world. He has also led performances at some of the world’s most renowned stages, including Carnegie Hall.
Beyond the concert stage, Dr. Morrow’s influence can be heard in classrooms, churches, and concert halls across the country through the countless students he has mentored. Many of his former students now serve as music educators at every level—from elementary classrooms to universities—as well as ministers of music leading vibrant church music programs nationwide. His commitment to nurturing young musicians has also extended to initiatives such as the Campbell Children’s Choir Camp, now entering its 25th summer, helping introduce new generations to the joy and discipline of choral singing.
Established by his loving family together with many of the students he has mentored over the years, the Phillip J. Morrow Scholarship for Choral Excellence will support future Campbell University students as they pursue their musical education. By helping talented young musicians develop their artistry and leadership, this scholarship continues Dr. Morrow’s enduring legacy—cultivating excellence in choral music and inspiring the educators and musical leaders of tomorrow.
