What happens when faith meets the realities of work, uncertainty, failure, opportunity, and entrepreneurship?
In this one-hour virtual session, Dr. Patrice J. Carter explores faith and entrepreneurship through two powerful biblical examples: Peter’s empty nets in Luke 5 and the marketplace partnership of Paul, Priscilla, and Aquila in Acts 18.
Peter and the fishermen had worked all night without results. Yet when Jesus instructed Peter to put the nets out again, Peter was willing to take action despite his previous disappointment. His story invites entrepreneurs to consider what they do when their efforts don’t produce the results they expected. Sometimes faith means having the courage to put the net back in the water.
From the boat, the conversation moves into the marketplace. Paul, Priscilla, and Aquila demonstrate how work, relationships, skills, partnership, and faith can intersect. Their story provides a framework for considering entrepreneurship not simply as building a business, but as an opportunity to use one’s gifts, create value, serve others, build meaningful partnerships, and make an impact.
Drawing from her experience as an entrepreneur, professor, author, Christian coach educator, and founder of Breakpoint Coaching Collective, Dr. Carter will challenge students to consider how their faith, values, skills, relationships, and sense of purpose can shape the way they approach entrepreneurship and leadership.
