Cooperative for Real Education in Agricultural Management. A student run dairy herd. UVM students manage farm operation and perform all of the barn chores.

CREAM, Cooperative for Real Education in Agricultural Management, is a student-run dairy herd. There are currently 34 milking Holstein cows plus replacement animals in the herd. It is one of the highest producing and genetically superior herds in Vermont. This spring and fall semester program offers 8 credits (4 per semester) to 13-16 students each year. Successful applicants are selected from all majors across the University and are not required to have a dairy or livestock background. The key requirements are a commitment to working hard and the thirst for knowledge. A CREAM student will leave this program with the skills necessary to excel in his/her chosen field whether that be business management, community development and applied economics, animal science, or biology.

🍁🐄‼️MEET THE CREAMER‼️🐄🍁 Meet Emilia, Emilia is a senior animal science major with an equine studies minor from Chevy Chase, Maryland 🐴. After graduation, she plans to work in dairy farm management or precision technology. “I have always loved animals, I fell in love with horses and large animals when I rode a pony at the county fair.” 🐎🎡 Emilia’s favorite thing about CREAM are her fellow CREAMers, Dr. W, Matt, and Keegan. Gravity 4036, Gertrude 3949, and Georgia 3874 (the G line queens) hold a special place in her heart. Her favorite dairy products are creemees and Cabot Vermont Sharp Cheddar Cheese. 🧀 🍦A fun fact about Emilia is that she lived in Scotland for a year studying marine biology. 🧬 🐠

🍁✨‼️MEET THE CREAMER‼️✨🍁 Meet Charles! Charles is a sophomore animal science major with chemistry and business minors from Wilmette, IL. After graduating, he plans travel a bunch and eventually go to vet school ✈️🩺. Prior to CREAM, Charles had no experience with the dairy industry or large animals! “I really wanted to work with live animals and it seemed like a good way to get out of my comfort zone.” Charles favorite thing about CREAM is snuggling with his favorite cows and spending time with the other incredible creamers 🐄. His favorite dairy products is cheese (favs are mozzarella, vt cheddar, or chèvre although that last one is goat cheese) 🧀 . A fun fact about him is that he loves chocolate and lived next to a chocolate factory as a child 🍫. Charles favorite cows are Lotus 3970, Jenga 3961, Gravity 4036, Arizona 4039, and Juno 4063

Meet Molly! Molly is from Garden City, Long Island and a rising senior! She is an animal science major on the pre vet track and wants to be large animal or emergency vet. Mollys favorite cows is Autumn and favorite dairy product is Swiss Cheese and Maple Creemee. Her favorite part aboit SCREAM is hanging with the girls in the manger and vaccine day! A fun fact about Molly is that she has dual citizenship in Ireland! YAY MOLLY

Meet Abby!! Abby is a rising senior from Richmond, Virginia. She is an animal science major with minors in equine studies and chemistry 🐴🧪! She is on a pre-veterinary track and hopes to become a large animal vet in the future 🐄🩺. Her favorite parts of SCREAM are getting to be on chore with so many amazing people, learning all the cows’ personalities, and naming the calves! Abby’s favorite cows are Agnes (4042) and Myrtle (3981) 🐮❤️. Her favorite dairy product is Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream 🍨! Yay Abby!!
