Magnetic resonance imaging is a completely safe technique that works by aligning select hydrogen atoms in your body with a powerful magnet. Radio waves then move those atoms out of alignment, and when they relax back to their original state, they send signals that create your brain image. There is zero radiation, needles, or anything painful! Functional MRI, also known as fMRI, tracks blood flow in the brain to detect which brain regions are active while youโ€™re thinking or performing tasks. Weโ€™re using fMRI for the VINES Study to better understand how stress impacts relevant brain networks and regions! Want to participate? Link in bio to sign up! ๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒฟ

Happy New Member Monday! Today we are introducing Cee, a doctoral student in the Experimental Psychology program here at UVM!
๐Ÿง ๐ŸŒฟ

Cee earned her MPH from St. Georgeโ€™s University and previously worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Columbia University with Dr. Catherine Monk, examining the impact of unconditional cash allowances on maternal and infant health outcomes. She is interested in understanding how the timing and accumulation of adversity, socio-environmental risk factors, and experiences of safety and resilience independently and collectively shape neurodevelopmental trajectories and mental health across development.

Outside the lab, Cee enjoys swimming, hiking, reading, and practicing taekwondo!
