Carrie '88, G'97 and Chris Teffner know the value of a solid education and the balancing act of making ends meet. Their own experiences working through college, managing student debt, and building successful careers inspired them to give back in a big way.

Through a $1 million gift to UVM, they're helping Vermont students spend less time worrying about finances and more time discovering new opportunities, pursuing their goals, and building bright futures.

Their story is rooted in gratitude, generosity, and a deep love for Vermont—and it's a reminder of the lasting impact one act of giving can have. Read their inspiring story.

We are saddened to hear of Former UVM President Lattie F. Coor's passing.

Lattie F. Coor died Thursday, July 16, at 89. He was the second-longest serving president of the University of Vermont, beginning his 14-year tenure in 1976 at what he called “an extraordinary moment” in the life of the university.

A warm welcome to Judy Schaechter, M.D., M.B.A., the new chair of the Department of Pediatrics and chief of pediatrics at Golisano Children's Hospital at UVM Health! 💚

Judy Schaechter, M.D., M.B.A., joined UVM Health and the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont on July 1, 2026, as chair of the Department of Pediatrics and chief of pediatrics at Golisano Children’s Hospital at UVM Health. She succeeds Lewis First, M.D., M.S., and will lead the department’s clinical, research, educational, and advocacy missions.

We sat down with Dr. Schaechter to learn more about her background, what inspired her career in pediatrics, and what excites her most about joining the Larner College of Medicine and UVM Health.

We're thrilled to share that we surpassed our $60,000 goal, raising more than $130,000 in scholarship support for UVM students during our Summer of Scholarships campaign throughout the month of June.

The University of Vermont is a prolific producer of Peace Corps volunteers, ranking third among medium-sized American universities.

The Peace Corps has served 144 countries since its founding in 1961. More than 240,000 throughout that time have put forth their passion and skills “in support of community-led development and intercultural exchange” (2026 Fast Facts, Peace Corps). On average, 3,000 volunteers are deployed to over 60 countries yearly.

Meet three UVM 2025 alumnae from the UVM College of Arts & Sciences who are currently deployed in Ghana's Volta Region.

All three were sworn in as Peace Corps Officers this past March, all working in the sector of Community Health Facilitation: Celeste Moyer '25, Malia Glassman '25, and Alexis Torykian '25. Together, they reflect on their life-changing experiences thus far.
