Meet the member!

Meghan is a freshman Animal Science major with an Equine Studies minor. She owns Spartan, an 18 y/o Quarter Horse Gelding. Meghan and Spartan quite literally grew up together because they are the same age!

Meghan has spent the last 6+ years working in both a show barn and a lesson barn. After leasing a couple of horses, she bought Spartan in 2021, and they have been inseparable ever since.  She has competed in various sports such as competitive trial rides, hunter-jumper, flat classes, western, and versatility. She has also competed at Eastern States Oktoberfest 4 times! Meghan also volunteered at the Green Mountain Horse Association, where she shadowed a vet for endurance rides, and is currently a member of the Connecticut Trail Ride Association. Meghan and Spartan have been such a lovely addition to the Coop!

Meet the member!

Audrey is a Junior Forestry major, and this is her 3rd year in our barn with her 16 y/o Morgan Gelding, Inka! Audrey has been on our Executive Committee since her Sophomore year and helps make sure our barn runs smoothly.

Inka was born and raised in Calgary, where he worked cattle and did dressage. Even though he used to work cows, he is now absolutely terrified of them and will not have anything to do with them, even for his favorite treat (peppermints).

Audrey got her first horse when she was 9. She was leased, as she thinks her parents were hoping she would become tired of the work. That didn’t go as planned for them, as she is now 21 and going strong! She grew up riding western, but switched to doing eventing and dressage with Inka. When it was decided Inka’s body couldn’t handle the level of time and work they were putting into dressage, Audrey decided to retire together. They now spend their days grooming, taking nice and easy walking rides, and reading together!! Or, she reads, and he eats. He’s listening… I swear.

Meet the member!

London is an Animal Science major with an Equine Studies minor, and is both a Coop member and an Equus Teaching Assistant. In Coop, he has Keops, a 16 y/o Belgian Warmblood. As a TA, he represents Red, a 16 y/o Thoroughbred.

London grew up riding hunter jumper, and practices Parelli Natural Horsemanship and TWE Positive Reinforcement Training. He brings to our barn such a wide range of knowledge and is always a friendly face to see around the barn.

A fun fact about Keops is that he was born in Belgium and flew on a plane to the US! A fun fact about Red is that he was a racehorse!
