Yesterday, MCGA board treasurer Rob Tate was interviewed by Linder Farm Network about the Minnesota Department of Agriculture's new order determining that the Groundwater Protection Rule is adequate to protect groundwater from pollution, impairment, or destruction associated with the commercial application of fertilizer to cropland. This summer, Minnesota Corn has been a proud sponsor of the new "Finding Goldy" activity at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum's Farm at the Arb. At the beginning of the growing season, Farm at the Arb staff placed a statue of Goldy Gopher in the farm's field corn plot. As the corn grew and overtook Goldy, Arboretum visitors could search for him in the plot. A sign next to Goldy included a QR code with a link to ag-based resources.

On Saturday, August 22, Farm at the Arb staff harvested the field corn plot. Over 600 guests were on hand to help find Goldy and participate in corn harvest activities.

Farm at the Arb will wrap up its 2026 growing season with its annual Field Fest event on Sept. 12: https://arb.umn.edu/fieldfest.

Heading to the Minnesota State Fair with kids? Be sure to stop by Kemp’s Little Farm Hands!
Kids grab a bucket and make their way around the farm, collecting corn, apples, eggs, milk, wool, and vegetables to “sell” at the market for a delicious treat at the end! Along the way, check out the plants growing and read all the agriculture facts at each station.
