Students from our Geauga Campus and Twinsburg Academic Center earned seven awards at the 2026 Kent State English Department Writing Awards Ceremony. A remarkable showing that reflects the academic strength of both campuses.
Representing a range of experience levels, from first-year freshmen to College Credit Plus students still completing high school, this year’s honorees distinguished themselves through rigorous research, persuasive argumentation, and compelling storytelling across the College Writing and Perryman Award categories.

These achievements speak to more than individual talent. They are a testament to the distinctive educational experience that smaller campus environments can offer. One defined by close faculty mentorship, personalized feedback, and sustained academic engagement. Equal recognition is due to the four faculty members whose instruction made this success possible: Dr. Sorina Ailiesei [eighth photo], Dr. Mary Hricko [ninth photo], Professor Mahli Mechenbier [tenth photo], and Dr. Bonnie Shaker [eleventh photo].
