🏆 Celebrating our Distinguished Alumni Award winner, Melissa (Moe) Hagman ’95!

The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have shown exceptional and sustained accomplishments and leadership in their chosen profession.

Moe found her career path in medicine thanks to tremendous guidance from Dr. Sheri Robison, made lifelong friends, and met her future wife during her years as a student at The College of Idaho. She graduated with a degree in Zoology in 1995, then earned her medical degree from the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine in 1999. Moe completed her Internal Medicine Residency at the UW Seattle/Boise Combined Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2002 and served as Inpatient Chief Resident at the UW Medical Center in Seattle, WA, until 2003.

Moe is a teacher at heart. She became teaching faculty at UW Medical Center in 2003 and Associate Program Director for the UW Internal Medicine Residency based in Seattle in 2008. At the suggestion of her wife, Mindy (the smart one in the duo), Moe moved back to Boise in 2011 to be near family and to assume the role of Associate Program Director at the newly formed, three-year, UW Boise Internal Medicine Residency. In 2016, Moe shifted into the Program Director role. It is her extreme delight to work every day with resident physicians and students. Moe is also a former Idaho American College of Physicians Governor, a Master in the American College of Physicians, and a current hospitalist and palliative care physician at the Boise VA Medical Center.

The Family Heritage Award is an award given to a family that has multiple members in the National Alumni Association, with at least some of whom demonstrating through services or gifts, a proven loyalty and continuing interest in The College of Idaho over their lifetimes. This award is generally reserved for families with three or more generations of alumni.

Our 2026 Family Heritage Award winner is the Willmorth family. Comprised of alumni from four generations, Galdys '22, Harold '26, Barbara '49, Tricia '83, Sophia '27, and Dr. John Willmorth, Professor Emeritus, the Willmorth family exemplifies commitment and dedication to The College of Idaho through the years.

Homecoming & Family Weekend 2026 | October 2–4

Alumni, families, students, and friends of the College are all welcome back to campus for a weekend full of Yote spirit.

This year's special reunions and celebrations include a Yote Educators Reunion, an All Spirit Squads reunion bringing together Cheer, Dance, Color Guard, teams from all eras, a Toast to Professor Kerry Hunter from his former and current students, an Alumni Softball Game celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Yotes Softball, Strahorn Hall's 100th Anniversary, and the Yotechella Music Festival on Friday, October 2nd.

Don't miss our signature gatherings, including the Treasure Valley Business Breakfast, the Presidential Luncheon, Distinguished Alumni Awards, plus campus traditions like the BBQ on the Quad.

And of course, bring your game day energy on Saturday, October 3rd at tailgate and as we cheer on the Yotes at Simplot Stadium.

Congratulations to College of Idaho alumna Olivia Whitsel ‘14 on being named a 2026 James Madison Fellow!

As a Government and Social Studies teacher at Caldwell High School, Olivia is helping shape the next generation of informed citizens. The prestigious James Madison Fellowship recognizes outstanding educators committed to teaching the principles and history of the U.S. Constitution and provides funding for graduate study in constitutional education.

We’re proud to celebrate Olivia’s impact in the classroom and beyond. Join us in congratulating her on this incredible achievement! 💜💛
