🚁 A huge milestone for UROC!

In June we completed the first non-DoD sponsored Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flight across the breadth of the Chesapeake Bay—flying 33 miles from Kitts Point Peninsula to Crisfield and back. 🌊

This achievement is an exciting step toward making long-range drone operations in complex airspace a reality for applications like emergency response, medical deliveries, and more.

🚀✈️ The UROC team was proud to participate in Maryland Aerospace Day this year!

We brought out the hardware and had our UAVs on display—an exciting way to showcase the technology and operations behind our work in unmanned aviation. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow aviation and aerospace organizations across Maryland.

As a member of Team RoboScout from the University of Maryland, UROC participated in Challenge 2 of the DARPA Triage Challenge where the team placed 2nd overall and 1st among University teams! 🚁
Our drones located simulated casualties and reported their positions to ground robots and human medics to speed response times to mass casualty victims.

🎅✈️ Santa landed safely, and our UROC team made sure it was smooth sailing from the sky to the tarmac! From our Claus Command Center, we used our drones, equipment, and air traffic monitoring to see what was happening and guided him into St. Mary’s County Regional Airport where he took photos and spread holiday cheer with all the kiddos! 🎄✨
