What does it mean to find belonging far from home?

When Joris Jurgelevicius arrived at Harvard Summer School from Lithuania, he wondered how he would connect with students from different backgrounds. What he discovered was a welcoming international community that encouraged him to explore new cultures, reconsider his perspectives, and grow both inside and outside the classroom.

From sharing meals with new friends in Boston to engaging in meaningful conversations across differences, Joris left Harvard with stronger interests in diplomacy, history, and philosophy—and the confidence that he could find his people anywhere.

“At Harvard, I felt I had found that sunlight.”

Thank you for sharing your Harvard Summer School experience with us, Joris! ✨
