Rutgers Camden Student Success Coach Office

Rutgers Camden Student Success Coach Office YOUR vision. YOUR goals. YOUR success!

As part of the Division of Student Academic Success, the Rutgers-Camden Student Success Coach Office strives to enhance the overall student experience and promote educational success by encouraging our students to clarify their vision and purpose, establish meaningful goals, and become resourceful by putting their learned academic and life skills into practice. In efforts to maximize our undergrad

uate students' success, we offer opportunities for skill building, mentoring, and coordination of support services in the form of our Scarlet Scholar Coaching Program. Beginning in a student’s first year, the work performed with success coaches aims to cultivate academic and personal success, help prevent, prepare for, and respond to common obstacles experienced in higher education, and guide well-rounded students toward timely graduation, as well as achievement of their personal and professional goals. Here at Rutgers-Camden, we recognize that students who are well-connected within the campus community, and who can identify at least one supportive peer, faculty member, or staff person, are more likely to be successful in their endeavors. That's why each of our success coaches are matched with specific students, to provide one-on-one assistance every step of the way, with personalized supportive services, efforts to guide them toward valuable resources, and a commitment to ensuring that all of our Scarlet Scholars have the necessary information and tools to succeed.

Happy International Education Week! SSCO spent some time with current scholars to go over all the resources Rutgers Camden has to help students make traveling abroad accessible during their undergraduate experience. We discussed the passport initiative, current students shared their experiences abroad, and Success Coach Heather highlighted various scholarship and fellowship opportunities that can provide funding to offset the cost of travel. Interested in studying abroad? Not sure where to begin? Come chat with your Success Coach and we can get you connected to the appropriate resources to turn your travel goals into a reality.

This week, our first year undergraduate students had the chance to connect with faculty researchers and student support offices on campus to learn firsthand about how to get involved in research — both on campus and externally — and the funding opportunities available to help them achieve this goal

A huge thank-you to our amazing panelists — Dr. Andrew Abeyta from the Psychology department, Dr. Julio Ángel Alicea from the Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice department, Dr. Benedetto Piccoli from the Math and Computational And Integrative Biology department, Ojobo Agbo Eje from the Rutgers Office For Research, and Jordan Staub from the Office Of Scholar Development and Fellowship Advising — for sharing their experiences, insights, and encouragement with our students.

Events like this help make research feel accessible and exciting for undergraduate students at every level and major. It’s always inspiring to see students ask thoughtful questions and explore new ways to level up their undergraduate experience outside of the classroom.

On Tuesday, October 7 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM in the Multipurpose Room of the Campus Center, you should plan to attend the Fall 2025 Career & Internship Fair. This fair is for all majors. We are finishing week four… have you met your expectations on your grades thus far? Maybe you still have not been able to find the right study habits and routine. Experiment with different study spots on campus like the study rooms in or in the CLASS Suite. Consider what time of the day works best for you to focus and retain information. Some people are early birds who perform better when they first wake up while others are better studying during the middle or end of the day. Reflect on the techniques you use (Pomodoro, study groups, flash cards, note rewriting). offers workshops and 1:1 appointments to help students strengthen their study skills.

Our tip this week is to test different study spots and techniques until you discover what works for you. Whether your style is—make it YOUR routine.
