Hey Lions!! More good news on the research front at ET!! Dr. Ahmed Kurt, an assistant professor in our Department of Computer Science and Information Systems, and his collaborators have developed what they say is the first post-quantum design implementation and evaluation for the Bitcoin Lightning Network. I'm not smart enough to tell you what all this means, but my son (who is from the computer science world) told me: "Dad, this is big." Go Dr. Kurt and Go Lion Research!!

A groundbreaking new approach could help secure fast, off-chain Bitcoin transactions against the cybersecurity threats of tomorrow.

Hey Lions!! Research is rapidly ramping up on our campus!! Please click on the link below - it is a story about two of our undergraduate students (Kateryna Voroshylo and Neyda Figuero) who recently discovered two previously unidentified bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) in soils collected on our campus, and in Caddo Mills. The fact that two of our undergraduate students played a central role in these discoveries makes this story even more exciting. At ET, we are able to provide these types of research experiences for our undergrads to further enhance their learning and professional development. Special thanks to Drs. Hyun-Joo Nam and Archana Srinivas for their outstanding support of these students. Go Lion Researchers!!

Hey Lions!! We are losing a good one. Our Vice President for Research and Economic Development, Brent Donham, has decided to ride off into the sunset with a well-earned retirement. I would like to personally thank Brent for being such a great colleague and friend over the years. And, I would like to thank the many folks who showed up today at Dr. Donham's going away party. He will be greatly missed.
