We are so excited to bring back WT Alumni Association Board of Directors introductions.

Meet Milton J. Guerrero a mechanical engineering graduate who currently works as an engineer at Xcel Energy.

Originally from Amarillo and a Caprock High School graduate, he was grateful for WT because it was close to home, allowing him to get his education while being present and helpful for his family. During his time at WT, he grew in his ability to handle adversity both in his personal and professional life. He battled more than just classes and working, he lost his father to cancer, had his son AJ, all while working to complete his degree. This taught him that if he can handle all of that while experiencing success, he could handle anything. In 2019, Milton was named the 2019 Hispanic Man of the Year in Amarillo.

Milton joined the Alumni Association Board of Directors to make a difference at WT and help encourage fellow WT alumni more involved. He is excited to give back to his school, which did so much for him.

“Be involved and don't be afraid to discover who you really are,” Milton advises current students. “A lot of the time we get consumed in who we were in high school, who our families told us we were, etc. This next phase of life is your opportunity to see who it is you want to be. And trust me the opportunities are endless. WT allowed me to see that I wanted to be someone that makes a difference in their community, and that's what I do to this day outside of engineering.”
