We’re proud to showcase research presentations highlighting hard work, critical thinking, and real-world application in agriculture. Over the past week, students have represented our department at the SEMO Student Research Conference and the Missouri Academy of Science along side faculty mentors. Collegiate Farm Bureau members Blake Deppe, Wyatt Hendley, and Kaitlyn Ruwald attended the Missouri Farm Bureau Fly-In Conference in Washington, D.C., and the 2026 Young Farmers & Ranchers Conference in Portland, OR. They had the opportunity to attend legislative briefings, hear from a USDA panel, and tour the Capitol building.

We hosted a variety of competitions throughout the day in areas such as: ag issues, soils, and dairy foods. A special shoutout to Flickerwood Arena for allowing us to host the livestock judging competition.

Agriculture today is about more than tractors and crops, it’s about sustainability, innovation, and real-world impact. At SEMO, students in the Department of Agriculture don’t just learn, they do.

From working with livestock at the David M. Barton Agricultural Research Center to testing plants in our greenhouses, students gain hands-on experience from day one.
