Gamma Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc The first initiation of Gamma Kappa Omega chapter was conducted at the
Attucks Grade School on Jackson Street, Carbondale, Illinois on March 15,
1941.

In addition to Ms. Roberts of Gamma Omega Chapter in St. Louis, were three other women who participated in the initiation: Marianna Beck, Alice McGehee Smart, and Blanche Patterson McWilliams. After the initiation ceremony, the first Chapter officers were installed: Soror Lovia B. Penn, Basileus; Soror Gwendolyn Chambliss, Anti-Basileus; Soror Versa L. Hayes, Grammateus; Soror Lucille Walker, Epis

toleus; Soror Velma C. Woods, Tamiouchos; Soror Mildred Kedley, Sentinel; and Soror Jenolar F. Hillsman, Ivy Leaf Reporter. This was a most glorious moment for the original eleven members.
