SLIAC Awards were announced this afternoon. Blackburn Women’s squad was proudly represented by Grace Vidmar earning an award for Third Team All Conference and Janelle Naumann earning an award for the All Sportsmanship Team. The Women’s squad was also recognized being awarded the All Sportsmanship Award. Congrats to Grace, Janelle and the squad for representing Blackburn Women’s Soccer and the recognition the conference teams are beginning to see as the ladies become more competitive. Next year will bring new challenges as changes will occur.

Blackburn College Women’s Soccer was able to honor our three Seniors on Sunday. We were able to “Thank” all three for their dedication and positive attitude to the soccer program and the example they set for present and future student/athletes to follow. Please join us in Congratulating Janelle Naumann, Kara Mantia and Kayla Mantia for their hard work on the field and in the classroom. Keep up the great work Ladies!!

I had the privilege to represent the Blackburn Women’s Soccer squad coaching a training session for a Pekin PRIDE club team coached by Josh Norman. These young ladies all attend various high schools in the Pekin, Morton and Peoria area. It was an honor to be given the opportunity to work with them. They all have a very bright future ahead of them. Best of Luck to them and keep up the great work.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Blackburn College Women will be sporting their pink shirts this month prior to matches. Nice team pic In Louisville KY prior to our match. The Spalding University Women’s squad graciously allowed us to join the ladies for a group pic before the game.

2024 marked the 30th season for Blackburn Women’s Soccer. Even with low numbers from the beginning and enlisting the assistance of student/athletes, the ladies showed great heart and determination in each game. It was quite inspiring to me and I was honored to have the privelage of working with them for a small part of the season. Alexis Drury was able to experience a joyful Senior Day as Thanks to her dedication and positive influence she displayed day in and day out.

2023 brought huge success as the Blackburn Women’s squad finished with 4 wins and 4 draws. This team was led by a great Senior class of Molly Koskey, Sophia King, Jada Lurry, Izzy Erickson and Libby Adams. Pics in order of mention. Izzy showing Libby that she can play goal too!!!!
We hope we can replicate this year’s success to the 2023 squad and continue to build.

This season displayed a small roster. As we have all heard of the legendary Four Horsemen, 2022 saw the emergence of the versatility of the four young ladies in the picture below. This innocent looking quartet of individuals consisting of Libby Adams, Lexi Lusk, Sophie King and Izzy Erickson were responsible for most of the offensive firepower in the 6 nil victory over Mount Mary that year. Libby’s versatility was also displayed in goal at times throughout the season as Molly Koskey looks on wondering “Can Libby please kick it out of the defensive third???” Alyssa Ebert carries the ball past midfield. I love seeing the tape on the shoes!!!

The Blackburn Women’s Soccer squad was rewarded with a dinner at Reno’s Pizzeria for the Service in assisting the Lions Club in Carlinville IL. Great job ladies.
