The Work No One Sees

Some of the most important work in a Lodge happens before anyone notices.

It is Brothers arriving early, setting the room, preparing a meal, moving chairs, cleaning up, and quietly taking care of what needs to be done. None of it is glamorous, but all of it matters.

And often, that shared labor is where Brotherhood grows strongest—working side by side, sharing responsibility, and learning that good men build good things together.

At Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400, the work no one sees is part of what makes the Lodge what it is.

Brotherhood is built through shared effort.

Different Generations. One Brotherhood.

One of the great strengths of Masonry is that it brings together men who might never have crossed paths otherwise.

Different ages. Different experiences. Different walks of life. Yet in the Lodge, those differences often become strengths.

A younger man can benefit from the wisdom and example of men who have spent years building a life of character and purpose. An older man can find fresh energy and perspective in the men coming behind him. In that exchange, friendships grow, lessons are shared, and Brotherhood becomes something real.

At Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400, some of the most meaningful connections are built across generations.

Leadership Grows Here.

This week, Carrollton Lodge No. 1400 has the privilege of receiving R.W. Ben Waits, District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 14F.

For us, the occasion is especially meaningful. Brother Waits is not only our DDGM—he is a Past Master of Carrollton Lodge and continues to serve our Lodge as Treasurer.

His service continues a tradition at CML 1400 of Brothers who have accepted responsibility beyond their own Lodge and served Masonry at the district level.

Leadership in Masonry rarely begins with a title. It begins with showing up, learning the work, serving the men beside you, and being willing to take responsibility when called upon.

We are proud to welcome one of our own back in his role as District Deputy Grand Master—and proud of the tradition of service he represents.

Showing up is where fellowship begins.

A shared meal. A degree. A service project. A conversation that lasts longer than expected. A Brother lending a hand simply because he was there.

The moments that make Masonry meaningful rarely happen on a schedule. They happen when good men come together, spend time with one another, and find something worthwhile to share.

At Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400, every gathering is another chance to strengthen friendships, learn from one another, and enjoy the kind of fellowship that is hard to find anywhere else.

Sometimes, the best thing you can bring is simply yourself.

The Beehive has long been a Masonic emblem of industry—men working together with purpose, each doing his part for the good of the whole.

At Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400, that idea is more than symbolism. It is found in the Brothers who show up, serve their community, mentor one another, build friendships, and work toward something bigger tham themselves.

Brotherhood is not about simply belonging to something. It is about contributing to something worth building.

Today, June 24, Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400 joins Freemasons around the world in observing Saint John’s Day.
For those who may not be familiar, Saint John’s Day is an important date in Masonic tradition. Freemasonry has long honored the two Saints John: Saint John the Baptist, whose feast day is June 24, and Saint John the Evangelist, whose feast day is December 27. Together, they represent virtues that Masons seek to practice in our own lives: truth, humility, moral courage, brotherly love, and faithful service to others.
Many Masonic Lodges are symbolically dedicated to the Holy Saints John, reminding us that our work is not only about fellowship, but about becoming better men, stronger families, and more useful members of our communities.
On this Saint John’s Day, we pause to reflect on the values that unite us as Brethren and renew our commitment to living with integrity, charity, and purpose.
From all of us at Carrollton Masonic Lodge No. 1400, we wish you a meaningful Saint John’s Day.
