🎉 Congratulations to faculty member Su Kyong Isakson on receiving the CCBC Mark McColluch Endowed Teaching Award this fall!
Professor Isakson will use this award to develop innovative training and instructional materials for heritage signers, including Deaf-parented interpreters and Deaf interpreters. Her work recognizes the unique linguistic and cultural strengths these learners bring to interpreter education while addressing their distinct learning needs.

Join Cohort 2 of the Theater Interpreting Specialist workforce certificate program, with your instructor, JAC Cook. Courses begin August 16th!

This 75-hour training program offers working interpreters the basic knowledge and skills to begin interpreting in the exciting field of theatre performance and production. Designed by professional Deaf theatre artists and interpreters, the program consists of 3 intensive courses:

Theatrical Performance Interpreting: 20-hours, 5 Weeks
Required: 4-hours per week of ASL Lectures, Readings, Activities, Collaborative Group Interpreting Projects, Weekly Zoom Meetings

Theatrical Production Interpreting – 25-hours, 5 Weeks
Required: 5-hours per week of ASL Lectures, Readings, Activities, Collaborative Group Skill Development, Weekly Zoom Meetings

Theatrical Interpreting Internship – 30-hours, Arranged Schedule
Required: Skills Application, One-on-One Mentorship Meetings via Zoom, Collaborative Group Work, Supervisor Observation of Internship

Registration is now open for our new professional development course, Intro to Interpreting in Catholic Settings!
This Zoom course is designed for interpreters who are interested in expanding their skills in religious settings. Participants will explore Catholic sign vocabulary, the structure of the Mass, preparation strategies, Deaf Catholic cultural considerations, and more. Participants can earn up to 1.5 RID Professional Studies CEUs. (Attendance at all session is required for CEUs)

CCBC’s ASL & Interpreting Program is excited to announce an opening for a part-time ASL Coach at our Catonsville campus!
The ASL Coach plays a vital role in supporting novice ASL and interpreting students as they continue developing their expressive and receptive language skills. We are seeking a native ASL user who can provide authentic, culturally informed language modeling while helping students build confidence, fluency, and real-world communication skills.
This position offers:
• 19.5 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters
• Set semester schedule with daytime and evening hours
• Opportunities to work one-on-one and in small groups with student interpreters
• A chance to make a direct impact on the next generation of interpreters and ASL users
The ASL Coach will also provide on-campus feedback and language support to interpreting students as they strengthen their communication skills and professional fluency.
