Our LifeChoices Advocates recently spent time at the Dementia Simulation House at UNI, gaining a powerful, firsthand perspective on what it can feel like to live with dementia.

The experience challenged us to slow down, think differently, and recognize how small changes in environment and communication can make a big difference in someone’s daily life. We left with a deeper understanding and renewed focus on dignity, patience, and supportive care.

If you ever have the chance, we highly encourage you to visit the Dementia Simulation House at UNI for a meaningful, eye-opening experience!

It’s National Library Week, a time to recognize the important role libraries play in our communities!

Libraries can be valuable partners in building dementia-friendly communities by offering programs, welcoming spaces and resources that support people living with dementia and their care partners.
