Hey everyone! I know it's a little late but April 15th-21st is Volunteer Week!

"National Volunteer Week: April 15-21, 2012

Established in 1974, National Volunteer Week has grown exponentially in scope each year, drawing the support and endorsement of all subsequent U.S. presidents, governors, mayors and other respected elected officials.

National Volunteer Week April 15-21, 2012

Celebrating People in Action, presents an opportunity for individuals, families, nonprofit organizations, businesses and government entities alike to celebrate the ordinary people who accomplish extraordinary things through service.

National Volunteer Week embodies the energy and power volunteers evoke on a daily basis as they lead by example—not only encouraging the people they help, but motivating others to serve as well.

National Volunteer Week will be celebrated throughout the Cedar Valley. The volunteer recognition and activity schedule includes the following:

April 17 - Volunteer Tuesdays: Students will assist Community Main Street, Cedar Falls, with outdoor spring clean-up.

April 18/19 – UNI’s Stop and Serve: Students are invited to visit Maucker Union between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and assist with hands on tasks that various organizations have right on campus!

April 19 - Mayors’ Volunteer and Top Teen Awards at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center.

April 20 - The Boys and Girls Club of Black Hawk County and the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley have planned The Great Sweep, an activity for young people of all ages. It is designed to “spring clean” Lincoln Park and downtown Waterloo. Youth are asked to meet at Lincoln Park at 3:30. The event will conclude at 5:00 p.m. All materials needed for the project will be provided.

April 21 - Love Cedar Valley from 10:45 - 11:30 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. Participate in “Kindness Explosions, Outreaches, and Service Projects (from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m.)”

April 22 - Earth Fair at Hartman Reserve Nature Center. Participate in outdoor activities and Service Projects.

April 22 - UNI’s Day of Service: Campus-wide clean-up."
