Another busy day in Costa Rica for our students!

Butterfly Preserve, boat tour with sustainable fisheries, tour of the coastal mangrove forest, and sunset after the hike to the top of an island in the Nicoya bay. Unfortunately, there was a forest fire in the dry tropical in the hillside just down from our location. This area has 4 ecosystems: the farthest southern range of a dry tropical forest, coastal mangrove forest, farthest northern range of the tropical forest (like the Amazon), and a marine ecosystem.

Our Parks and Natural Resources students are enjoying Costa Rica on a study abroad course. Early adventures include: Scorpion during night hike, view of the Pacific in the morning from their lodge, coffee farm tour, monkeys, grinding fresh sugar cane juice, grinding fresh coffee on a traditional matate from the farm, and learning how to make empanadas for lunch.
