🚢 DC Semester Monday Excursion: Mount Vernon!
Our DC Semester students traveled by boat along the Potomac River to George Washington's Mount Vernon, where they explored the historic mansion and farm!
A highlight of the visit was the special opportunity to participate in an exclusive wreath-laying ceremony honoring our nation's first president.
During the ceremony, one student read an excerpt from Washington's famous 1783 Circular Letter to the States, the group recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and two students had the honor of laying the wreath.
Washington's words offered a meaningful reflection. He wrote:
..God "would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy and to demean ourselves, with that Charity, humility & pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion & without a humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy Nation."
A memorable day of exploring American history and reflecting on the faith and principles that shaped our nation's founding!
