University of Illinois Fraternities & Sororities We work with a wide range of constituents to help undergraduate chapters of fraternities and sororities maximize their potential.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs advises and consults for the Black Greek, Interfraternity, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils, as well as for individual chapters. Fraternity and Sorority Affairs staff serves as advisors and consultants for the Black Greek, Interfraternity, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils, as well as for individual chapters. Programs encourage academic achievement, diverse membership recruitment, leadership development, community service, risk management, and sound maintenance of physical facilities.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In observance of this important month, we want to highlight a sorority on our campus who works to bring attention to this cause through their philanthropic focuses. Alpha Phi Gamma National Sorority, Inc. is dedicated to bringing awareness to the ongoing fight against violence towards women. We are proud of the work they do for our community! 💜

Finally, for our last Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight, we are highlighting Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority, Inc. Chapter President Ariana Medina said,

"Being part of Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority, Inc. has given me a sense of belonging that I didn’t realize I needed in college. It has allowed me to be surrounded by strong women who not only understand and celebrate my culture, but also encourage me to be proud of who I am and where I come from. Through my sisters, I’ve found a family away from home and a space where I can fully be myself. Some of my favorite college memories, biggest lessons, and most meaningful relationships have come from being a part of this sisterhood. Gamma Phi Omega has helped shape me into a more confident, proud, and empowered version of myself, and it has given me a connection to my culture and my community that I know will stay with me far beyond my college years."

For our next Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight, we are highlighting Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, Inc. Chapter President Eleeana Aranda said,

"Through events, volunteer work, and learning from other sisters, Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority, Incorporated. has strengthened my connection to my cultural identity and shaped my college experience. As a Latina-based sorority here on campus, we create a space where sisters can celebrate their diverse cultures while learning from one another. Being surrounded by women who understand the importance of our cultural identities and educational opportunities has been an inspiration, and has given me a home here at UIUC. Today's Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight is highlighting Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latin Fraternity, Inc. Chapter President Alex Martinez said,

"Lambda Sigma Upsilon is an organization built on culture, and we make sure that culture is represented in everything we do, whether it is through our programming, traditions, or even the way we stroll. Through being a member of LSU, I have not only learned more about my own culture and roots, but I have also gained a deeper appreciation and understanding of the cultures and traditions of many other Latin American countries represented within our brotherhood.

Lambda Sigma Upsilon has given me a space where I can stay connected to my roots while also using that cultural pride to give back to the community. It has also shaped my college experience by surrounding me with people who share similar values and experiences, while still coming from different backgrounds. The friendships, connections, and sense of brotherhood I have gained through LSU have made college feel like more than just academics. It has given me a community I can call home and an opportunity to help create that same sense of belonging for others."

Our next Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight is Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc.! Chapter President Yasmin Garcia said,

"Being a part of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. has allowed our chapter to find a sense of community at a predominantly white institution. Through our sisterhood, we have created a space where our members can connect with others who have similar cultural experiences and celebrate our culture together. LTA has helped us embrace our cultural identities while also giving us a support system throughout our time in college. Our experiences in LTA have shown us how important representation and community are, and how meaningful it is to have a space where everyone can feel seen, supported, and proud of who they are."
