I still remember packing up her room and driving her to college. We smiled through the goodbyes, but as I drove home, my house felt quieter. My little girl was out in the world, on her own.
A few months in, my phone buzzed late at night.
It was a cold Tuesday, past 11 PM. She was walking back to her dorm across campus. The streetlights on the path were flickering, and behind her, she heard heavy footsteps matching her pace.
She didn't want to make a scene. She didn't want to panic. She just wanted her Dad.
She opened FledgeNow and tapped "Be With Me."
Miles away, my phone broke the quiet with an urgent, unmistakable alert:

I took a deep breath and finally went to bed.

Myth: "Your PII is removed, so your location data is anonymous."
Picture Ilango.
He uses a family safety app that collects location history and shares or sells location data after removing personally identifiable information (PII).
His name isn't in the dataset.
Neither is his email or phone number.
He's simply User #84729.
But look at his daily movements:
📍 8 PM–8 AM every day → his home
📍 9 AM–5 PM weekdays → his workplace
📍 8 AM every school day → his child's school
📍 Repeated evening stops → his gym and favorite spots
That routine is enough to pinpoint his exact home address. Combined with publicly available data, User #84729 is easily connected back to Ilango.
So how anonymous is "anonymized" data, really?
Your movements are your identity.
This is why I built FledgeNow on a non-negotiable promise:
• Collect only what is needed.
• Never track continuous routes.
• Never sell your location data.
Because with location privacy, removing your name isn't the same as protecting your identity.
